Is the Grace Movement facing a crisis?
That was the big question on this week's Grace Life Podcast, and it sparked one of our most passionate discussions yet. We talked about the shrinking number of grace churches, the urgent need for faithful pastors and teachers, why 2 Timothy 2:2 is more important than ever, and how every believer can help carry the torch to the next generation. We also explored the difference between simply consuming grace teaching online and actively investing in a local assembly through fellowship, mentoring, evangelism, and service.Of course, it wasn't all serious! We kicked things off with a brand-new original grace song, enjoyed a lively conversation with the saints in the live chat, answered Bible questions, talked about proving God's Word by putting it into practice, reflected on prayer, Romans 8, and a host of other encouraging topics that made for a rich and uplifting morning together.
Whether you're concerned about the future of the grace movement, looking for encouragement in your own walk, or simply enjoy good Bible conversation among friends, I think you'll really enjoy this episode. Grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and join us. We'd love to have you in the conversation!

Welcome back to another Open Chat Friday, where you never quite know where the conversation is going—but you know it's going to be a good time! This week, I was joined by the brilliant Alex Bojko for a fascinating discussion that ranged from William Tyndale and the King James Bible to the future of the Grace movement and the importance of training the next generation of pastors. We explored Tyndale's remarkable influence on the English language, his courage in the face of persecution, and why his work still matters today. Along the way, we talked about Bible translation, the October Tyndale Conference, the recent changes at Grace Life Bible Church in Grand Rapids, and why mentoring faithful men is more important now than ever.
Of course, it wouldn't be Open Chat Friday without diving into your questions! We tackled the gospel, faith versus works, Ephesians 1, James 2, Israel and the Body of Christ, and even brainstormed ideas for next year's Florida Regional Grace Conference. Throw in a brand-new Grace Revival blues song, plenty of laughs, coffee-fueled banter, and a whole lot of grace, and you've got two hours that flew by. If you love Bible study, church history, right division, and hanging out with fellow saints, I think you're really going to enjoy this one!

This morning on the Grace Life Podcast, I had the privilege of sitting down with my good friend Jim Phillips to discuss the brand-new 2nd Edition of his 1611 King James Dispensational Study Bible.
What began as a conversation about a new book quickly became a fascinating discussion about how we should study the Bible itself. Jim shared the story behind this massive four-and-a-half-year revision, why he chose to write verse-by-verse study notes, and his desire to create a resource that helps believers think through the Scriptures rather than simply telling them what to believe.
We also talked at length about the biblical command to "rightly divide the word of truth" (2 Tim. 2:15), why Paul's apostleship is so foundational for understanding God's present dispensation of grace, and how comparing Scripture with Scripture allows the Bible to interpret itself. Along the way we discussed Hebrews, Romans, water baptism, hermeneutics, cross-references, study Bible philosophy, Jim's experiences sharing the message of grace at Baptist conferences, and even a few humorous stories—including his famous "Right Division Rap!" The conversation was filled with both practical wisdom and plenty of laughs.
If you've ever wondered:
What makes a good study Bible?
Why does rightly dividing Scripture matter?
How should believers study difficult passages?
Why are Paul's epistles so important for us today?
What should study notes actually accomplish?
...then I think you'll really enjoy this conversation.
Jim's heart throughout the interview was refreshing. Again and again he emphasized that no study Bible should replace personal Bible study. His goal is to provide tools that encourage believers to search the Scriptures for themselves, compare spiritual things with spiritual, and become fully persuaded by the Word of God rather than by any man's opinions.
I think this is one of our most enjoyable and practical conversations yet. Whether you've been studying grace for decades or you're just beginning to explore rightly dividing the Word of Truth, I believe you'll come away encouraged, challenged, and with an even greater appreciation for the Scriptures.
Give it a listen, share it with a friend, and let us know what part of the conversation encouraged you the most. PTL!

This morning on the Grace Life Podcast, we tackled a subject that doesn't get nearly enough attention in grace circles: the dangers of unqualified elders. We explored why Paul's twenty-four qualifications for elders in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 aren't merely suggestions for finding "good men," but God-given safeguards designed to protect local churches from division, abuse, poor leadership, and spiritual disaster. Along the way, we shared real-life stories of church boards that courageously upheld biblical standards—and others that failed to act, with heartbreaking consequences. We also discussed the biblical role of elders, why "board maintenance" matters just as much as selecting qualified men, and why churches must never sacrifice integrity for convenience. The conversation even branched into James 1:27, Romans 5, church governance, and a lively Open Chat Friday with questions from saints around the world.
If you've ever wondered what Scripture really says about church leadership—or why healthy, biblical oversight is so vital to the life of a local assembly—you won't want to miss this episode. Give it a listen, join the conversation, and let us know what you think!

🎙️ Grace Life Podcast Recap: “Guest: Biswajit Das!”
This morning on the Grace Life Podcast, we had the joy of welcoming missionary and evangelist Biswajit Das from India, a passionate ambassador of the grace message whose ministry is impacting thousands across the subcontinent. Biswajit shared his remarkable journey from a Pentecostal background into the message of grace and right division, explaining how a simple encounter with 2 Timothy 2:15 set him on a path that completely transformed his understanding of Scripture. We talked about the unique challenges of sharing the gospel in India, the widespread influence of works-based religion, Pentecostalism, and ritualism, and the life-changing freedom people experience when they discover salvation is "by grace through faith" apart from works.
The conversation was filled with encouraging testimonies from conferences across India, stories of believers embracing eternal security and the sufficiency of Christ's finished work, and reflections on the perseverance required to stand for truth even when family, friends, and religious traditions oppose it. Biswajit also spoke candidly about the realities of ministry in India, including persecution, anti-conversion pressures, and the challenges of teaching doctrines such as one baptism, the apostleship of Paul, and salvation by grace alone. Yet through it all, his unwavering joy and confidence in the gospel shone through.
If you've ever wondered what God is doing through the grace movement halfway around the world, or if you need a reminder that the gospel is still changing lives one soul at a time, this episode will encourage your heart. Grab a cup of coffee and join us for this inspiring conversation with one of India's most faithful grace ambassadors. You won't want to miss it!

🎙️ Grace Life Podcast Recap: “A World on the Brink?”
What do a Sunday School graduation speech, the FIFA World Cup, The Economist's ominous 2026 cover, and growing global uncertainty all have in common?
That was the question Pastor Joel tackled in today's podcast. Inspired by an article from Lisa Leland, Joel explored the idea that many people—both inside and outside grace circles—sense that the world may be heading into turbulent waters. Rather than focusing on sensationalism, he examined how different events and observations seem to be converging around a common theme: people are expecting trouble ahead.
But then Joel pivoted to the much more important question:
What should grace believers do with all of this?
The heart of the episode was a practical and encouraging list of nine points about living in a world that feels like it's on the brink. Among them:
Current events are not the measuring stick for the Tribulation.
Modern technology is not the Mark of the Beast.
The Dispensation of Grace does not run on a prophetic countdown clock.
Believers are free to make political judgments without confusing them with spiritual obligations.
The doctrine of imminence means we live as though the Lord may come today.
Perilous times come in seasons.
Paul already gave us our marching orders: preach the Word, endure afflictions, and do the work of an evangelist.
God has already supplied the inner strength needed to endure whatever comes.
Paul focused on changing lives through the gospel, not fixing political systems.
The discussion then opened up into a classic Open Chat-style conversation covering prophecy, Israel, the 144,000, the two witnesses, grace versus law, fear-mongering in the media, spiritual warfare, and what it means to stay focused on God's eternal purpose in an increasingly distracted world. Along the way, Joel also previewed the upcoming Deep House II album and shared some fun fellowship with the MAD BAD crew.
The overall message was refreshingly simple:
Don't live in fear. Live in grace. The world may be uncertain, but your identity in Christ isn't. The headlines change daily, but God's purpose, God's grace, and God's promises remain exactly the same.
👉 If you've ever wondered how a grace believer should think about wars, economic fears, prophecy speculation, global instability, or the constant stream of doomsday headlines, you'll want to give this episode a listen. It's thoughtful, encouraging, practical, and filled with the kind of perspective that helps keep your eyes on Christ rather than the chaos around you.

🎙️ Open Chat Friday! Woo Hoo! | Grace Life Podcast
This week's Open Chat Friday was one of those classic Grace Life episodes where you never quite know where the conversation will go—but you know you're going to have a great time getting there. Pastor Joel kicked things off with an original song, “This Is God’s Country,” a joyful reminder that our true citizenship isn't found on any earthly map but in Christ Himself.
From there, the discussion covered everything from the exciting move of Supply of Grace to Substack, to reflections on new grace-centered articles, to a passionate review of introductions to the book of Acts by Stam, Gaebelein, Bullinger, and the new Grace Study Bible. Along the way, Joel tackled questions about the authorship of Hebrews, the ministry of John Mark, the preservation of Scripture, eternal security, Colossians 2:13, and why the grace of God ought to leave every believer overflowing with gratitude and joy.
One of the highlights was a heartfelt celebration of our identity in Christ. As Joel reminded listeners, we are already accepted, forgiven, sealed, and seated with Christ in heavenly places—a truth that should fill every day with hope, confidence, and praise.
If you enjoy lively Bible discussion, a little friendly ranting, lots of audience interaction, and frequent detours into fascinating dispensational questions, this episode is for you. Grab a cup of coffee and join the conversation—you might come for the discussion about Acts and Hebrews, but you'll stay for the encouragement to rejoice in the overwhelming grace of God.

🎙️ Does the Bible Really Teach 8 Dispensations?
On this episode of the Grace Life Podcast, Joel takes a candid look at the newly released Grace Study Bible and asks a provocative question: Does Scripture actually teach an 8-dispensation paradigm? Along the way, he explores the biblical meaning of dispensation as stewardship and administration, compares traditional Scofield-style systems with the simple Pauline framework of Time Past, But Now, and Ages to Come, and challenges whether concepts like the "Dispensation of Conscience" or "Human Government" truly fit the scriptural definition. The discussion also ventures into Bible preservation, study Bible notes, the importance of personal Bible study, and the believer's identity in Christ. Whether you agree or disagree, this is a lively, thought-provoking conversation that encourages believers to examine the Scriptures for themselves and be fully persuaded in their own minds.
It's one of those episodes that mixes theology, church history, Bible study methodology, and a little bit of Joel's trademark soapbox preaching—making for a fun and engaging listen that should spark plenty of discussion.

🎙️ Bible Diet?! Plus, Open Chat Friday!
What do Deborah, bacon, the Mosaic Law, and the "Bible Diet" craze have in common? Somehow, they all ended up in the same episode of the Grace Life Podcast!
We kicked things off by celebrating the release of our new Women of Faith folktronica album and spotlighting one of its standout tracks, "Deborah – Under the Palm Tree." Along the way, we revisited the remarkable story of Deborah, Barak, Sisera, and Jael—the courageous women God used during one of Israel's darkest hours. Then we played the song and had a blast discussing the fascinating details behind the story.
From there, we dove into the growing "Bible Diet" trend. Is it healthy? Probably. Is it biblical? Well... technically, no. We explored Israel's dietary restrictions under the Mosaic Law, discussed why those food laws were really about sanctification and separation rather than nutrition, and walked through Paul's teaching on Christian liberty. Along the way, we talked about bacon, shrimp, processed foods, 1 Timothy 4:4, bodily exercise, and why spiritual growth will always be infinitely more important than whatever happens to be sitting on your dinner plate.
As always, Open Chat Friday brought great questions, lively discussion, plenty of laughs, and enough food talk to make everyone hungry. If you enjoy practical Bible study, dispensational theology, friendly fellowship, and the occasional debate about bacon, you'll definitely want to give this one a listen!

👽 Are UFOs real? Are aliens out there? And... is Satan behind all of it? 🤔
This week on the Grace Life Podcast, Joel dives headfirst into one of the strangest conversations happening in Christian circles right now: UFOs, Roswell, government disclosures, Spielberg, AI, and whether any of it has a Biblical foundation.
Along the way, he challenges some popular prophecy claims, asks whether there is even one verse that teaches Satan is creating UFO phenomena, and explores alternative explanations ranging from secret military technology and psyops to simple misidentifications and media sensationalism. The discussion also tackles some fascinating theological questions: If aliens existed, would they need salvation? Did Christ die for them? And where would they fit into God's redemptive plan?
Of course, this wouldn't be a Grace Life Podcast without a few unexpected detours. You'll hear about Roswell, ancient Roman sky sightings, Star Trek, the Mark of the Beast, demonic deception, the "Holy Spirit Transportation Service," and even a brand-new song inspired by the question: "Can You Dance to Hymns?" 🎶😂
Most importantly, the conversation continually returns to what actually matters: the gospel of the grace of God, the believer's identity in Christ, and the need to filter every headline, conspiracy theory, and cultural trend through the lens of Scripture. As Joel reminds listeners, a world obsessed with aliens and artificial intelligence doesn't change who we are in Christ, the certainty of our salvation, or the peace we have in God's grace.
Whether you're a skeptic, a UFO enthusiast, a prophecy watcher, or just looking for an entertaining discussion with a distinctly grace-centered perspective, this episode is packed with thought-provoking questions, plenty of laughs, and lively interaction from the MAD BAD crew.
🎙️ Listen in and join the conversation. You may not leave convinced about UFOs—but you'll definitely leave thinking. 🚀✝️

Questions

Here's the biggest question I can ask you: why did Christ die on a cross? I suspect most know the answer, and that is He paid for our sins (1 Cor. 15:1-4). Paid in what sense? He took on the penalty, the consequence, for your sins (Rom. 3:25). If you place your faith in Christ and in His death, burial, and resurrection as payment for all your sins, then God the Father will give you that free gift of eternal life (Rom. 5:15-18).

Here's the second biggest question I can ask you: if you're a believer, do you know who you are in Christ? You're now identified with Christ in His victory for you on the cross. The Father now sees you as dead, buried, and risen with His Son (Rom. 6:3-4). You're now complete in Him (Col. 2:10), forgiven all trespasses (Col. 2:13), already seated in heavenly places (Eph. 2:6), and sealed by the Spirit (Eph. 1:13), which means you have eternal security.

Do you know who you are in Christ and how to live in light of those precious truths?
