Is Mental Health a Faith Issue?
What happens when real-life struggles collide with real biblical truth?
On this week’s episode of the Grace Life Podcast, we dove headfirst into one of the most honest—and needed—conversations we’ve had in a while: mental health and the believer’s mind.
We started with a simple but loaded question: Can Christians struggle with mental health? And from there, things got real.
We unpacked an article that argues believers aren’t exempt from emotional and mental struggles—and honestly, Scripture backs that up. From Elijah’s despair to David’s anguish in the Psalms to Christ Himself being “sorrowful unto death,” the Bible doesn’t hide the reality of human struggle.
But here’s where the conversation really took off…
We pushed past surface-level answers and got to the deeper issue: the mind.
What actually shapes your inner world?
Is every mental struggle a lack of faith… or is there more going on?
And most importantly—what has God already given us to deal with it?
This episode doesn’t ignore the complexities. We talked about trauma, dissociation, and even biological conditions that may require real treatment. But we also made a bold, biblical case that for many people, the battle is fought—and often won—in the mind.
Because Scripture is clear:
👉 Transformation doesn’t start with behavior—it starts with thinking.👉 Strongholds aren’t just feelings—they’re fortified patterns of thought.👉 And victory isn’t found in trying harder—it’s found in renewing your mind.
We walked through how the Word of God rewires the way you think, how grace teaches you to live, and how your identity in Christ can completely reshape your inner life—from anxiety and despair to peace and joy.
There were also some powerful personal moments—real testimony about depression, deliverance, and what happens when grace moves from doctrine… to experience.
And if that wasn’t enough, we wrapped it all up with one of the most practical questions you’ll hear all week:
What are you doing with your mind?
Because whatever is shaping your thinking… is shaping your life.

A shocking Supreme Court ruling on conversion therapy—and why it matters for believers today
A tragic baptism death that sparked a deeper discussion: Should water baptism even be practiced today?
The big question: Was baptism in Scripture immersion… or sprinkling? (You might be surprised where the evidence leads)
Why Paul says there is “one baptism”—and why that changes everything
The dangers of confusing physical rituals with spiritual realities
🔥 Along the way, we unpacked Scripture, challenged traditions, and kept coming back to what really matters:👉 Your identity in Christ👉 The Spirit baptism that makes you one with Him👉 The freedom and safety found in grace
🎶 Plus, we debuted another powerful track from the upcoming album—because what’s a Grace Life episode without some music to stir the soul?

🎙️ Skydiving Bunnies, Prosperity Preaching… and Resurrection Power?!
What do drones, Easter egg drops, and a skydiving bunny have to do with the gospel? 😄 In this episode of the Grace Life Podcast, we kick things off with a high-energy song celebrating who you are in Christ—then dive straight into one of the wildest Easter outreach trends making headlines.
Are church gimmicks a harmless way to reach people… or are we missing the point entirely? We wrestle with what truly draws people to Christ—and spoiler alert: it’s not helicopters dropping candy. It’s Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Then things heat up as we break down a rare interview with Kenneth Copeland. Did he actually face pushback on prosperity theology? And more importantly—does that message line up with Scripture? We contrast outward “blessing” with something far greater: the inward reality of resurrection life.
🔥 You’ll hear:
A biblical take on church outreach vs. gimmicks
Key moments from the Copeland interview (and what’s really going on beneath the surface)
Why 2 Corinthians 12 might dismantle prosperity theology
A powerful look at “the power of His resurrection” (Phil. 3:10) as something you live right now
This episode is equal parts thought-provoking, encouraging, and just plain fun—with plenty of interaction from the MAD BAD crew along the way.
👉 If you’ve ever wondered what really draws people to Christ—or what it means to live resurrection life today—you don’t want to miss this one.

Was it Wednesday… or Thursday? 👀In this lively pre-Easter episode, we dive headfirst into the annual resurrection timeline debate—breaking down the “three days and three nights” question, the Jonah connection, and why the details still spark strong opinions across the grace movement.
But that’s just the beginning…
We also tackle:
🔥 A fascinating debate between a believer and a “Christian atheist” on whether the resurrection really happened
🧠 The biggest skeptical theories (hallucinations, wrong tomb, swoon theory—and why they fall apart)
📖 A powerful biblical case for the resurrection—from eyewitnesses to fulfilled prophecy
💥 The life-changing transformation of the disciples and Paul as undeniable evidence
🗣️ Open chat moments with the saints—covering everything from Scripture insights to practical Christian living (including a convicting look at our speech and attitudes!)
And of course, we bring it all back to what matters most:The resurrection isn’t just a debated timeline—it’s the very proof that Christ conquered sin and death, and the foundation of our eternal hope.
Plus: a brand-new resurrection song, fellowship with listeners, and plenty of real, unscripted moments along the way.

Grace Life Podcast – Monday Recap: Big Topics, Bold Truth, and a Whole Lot of Grace
This week’s episode had a little bit of everything—fresh music, real-world headlines, and some strong, grace-centered perspective on issues shaking the Christian world right now.
We kicked things off with brand-new music—including a swampy gospel track “Keep On Walking Worthy” (inspired by Ephesians 4!) and a powerful, story-driven “Esther’s Song” that brings courage and calling to life. If you love doctrine you can feel, this alone is worth the listen.
From there, we dove into some major conversations:
Free Speech & Christianity in EuropeThe recent conviction of Päivi Räsänen sparked a broader discussion about “hate speech” laws and what they mean for believers. But instead of panic or discouragement, we brought it back to a key truth: our victory isn’t in cultural freedom—it’s in Christ.
Scandals in Ministry & Church AccountabilityWe revisited the Robert Morris case and explored a tough but necessary question: what should churches do when serious sin is exposed? From leadership responsibility to transparency, this was an honest look at how things should be handled biblically.
NDAs in Churches – Helpful or Harmful? Are non-disclosure agreements protecting people… or protecting abuse? We unpacked both sides, but also highlighted the danger of creating a culture of silence that hides wrongdoing instead of exposing it.
Spiritual Abuse & Leadership ToneFrom real-life examples to practical advice, we emphasized something often overlooked: how truth is spoken matters. Grace isn’t just doctrine—it’s demeanor.
Doctrinal Discussions (with some fire 🔥)The conversation touched on rapture views, handling disagreement in the pulpit, and why tone and humility should come before debate. Strong convictions—but grounded in grace.
Identity in Christ (the anchor of it all)No matter the chaos—legal battles, church scandals, cultural shifts—the takeaway was clear:👉 Let the Word define how you feel, not the world.👉 Walk in the victory you already have in Christ.
And of course, the episode wrapped with encouragement, interaction with listeners, and a clear gospel presentation—because at the end of the day, that’s what matters most.
👉 If you want a mix of real talk, doctrinal clarity, and encouragement to “walk worthy” no matter what’s happening around you… this is one you don’t want to miss. Come join us! PTL!

This morning’s Open Chat Friday was a lively mix of rich doctrine, current events, and good-natured back-and-forth as we kicked things off with a brand-new song from the Redemption Story album and then dove into everything from free speech battles in Finland to the pitfalls of legalistic systems like Gothard’s IBLP. Along the way, we tackled big-picture questions about keeping the gospel central, why winning arguments isn’t the same as winning souls, and how rightly dividing the Word keeps us grounded in grace instead of drifting into confusion. Of course, it wouldn’t be Open Chat Friday without some deep dives into Scripture, practical ministry insights, and a few laughs with Hal—so if you missed it live, you’ll definitely want to give this one a listen and jump into the conversation! Buckle up, saints—today’s episode is a wild ride from prison cells to ancient temples to the plains of Shinar! Joel kicks things off with a powerful preview of his upcoming concept album A Redemption Story—a gripping narrative of guilt, grace, and a man who discovers that even behind bars, he’s still called a son. From there, the conversation dives into fascinating insights from Biblical Archaeology Review—debunking popular images of the Last Supper (no, they weren’t sitting at a Renaissance table!) and exploring the immersive, almost cinematic feel of first-century synagogues. But the heart of the episode? A thought-provoking deep dive into the Tower of Babel—was it actually finished? Joel wrestles through the KJV text, challenges traditional assumptions, and lands on a bold idea: maybe God let them finish… just to prove how far human effort falls short. It’s rich, it’s fun, it’s full of grace-driven insight—and you’ll definitely want to jump into the discussion. Give it a listen and bring your Bible—this one will get you thinking. Come join us! PTL!

In this lively episode of the Grace Life Podcast, Joel and Hal kick things off with their usual humor and banter before diving into a wide-ranging conversation.
The discussion begins with a fascinating concept called “Me-ology”—a term describing the modern tendency to interpret life, marriage, and even Scripture through the lens of self-fulfillment and feelings. Joel and Hal contrast this mindset with the apostle Paul’s emphasis on humility, sacrifice, and finding true validation in who we are in Christ.
From there, the conversation explores the supernatural design of the Bible itself, highlighting how the 66 books written across thousands of years form one integrated message that could only come from divine inspiration.
They also unpack insights from a series on “zealously affecting” believers—examining how emotional manipulation in religion can lead people away from sound doctrine and how stability comes from rightly dividing Scripture rather than chasing spiritual hype.
Then the show shifts into live Q&A, tackling a variety of deep and practical Bible questions, including:
Why passages like James 5 about healing are often misunderstood today• The prophetic meaning of the Abomination of Desolation• Whether Deuteronomy’s “hand and forehead” language relates to the mark of the beast• What Paul meant when he said “all things are yours” in Christ• The relationship between repentance, works, and faith across different biblical dispensations
Along the way, Joel and Hal share personal reflections, theological insights, and plenty of laughter while encouraging listeners to anchor their lives not in emotions or religious hype—but in the finished work of Christ and the doctrines of grace.
If you enjoy deep Bible study, honest questions, and a little friendly theological debate, this episode is packed with insights you won’t want to miss! Come join us! PTL!

In this lively Open Chat Friday episode of the Grace Life Podcast, Joel welcomes the fellowship for a wide-ranging and engaging discussion that blends humor, music, theology, and live Bible questions. The episode kicks off with a fun debut of songs from the new fictional “Grace Mixtape” album, including a vintage-style 1950s doo-wop track celebrating the grace of God and a country gospel tune about identification with Christ. From there, Joel dives into a humorous take on recent Bigfoot sightings in Ohio, turning the story into a spiritual illustration about humanity’s fascination with mysterious things while often overlooking the far greater mystery revealed in Scripture. The conversation also explores a remarkable story about 52 couples in a Texas megachurch choosing marriage after a sermon on cohabitation, reflections on spiritual growth from Joel’s article on the characteristics of spiritual babes, and a thoughtful look at the depth of Paul’s letter to Philemon and the grace-filled appeal surrounding Onesimus. Along the way, Joel interacts with live questions from listeners, tackles theological topics like the “gospel of God,” identification with Christ, and the believer’s blessings in Christ, and encourages everyone to study Scripture for themselves as Bereans. In this episode of the Grace Life Podcast, Joel opens with the debut of a brand-new song based on Ephesians 4:13—a verse rarely turned into music—celebrating the believer’s growth “unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” From there, the conversation turns to a gripping real-world story of a missionary pilot who found himself face-to-face with an armed hijacker at 30,000 feet and chose not panic—but the gospel. Joel reflects on what it means to live as an ambassador for Christ in dangerous and unexpected moments, unpacking the power of the gospel, the message of grace, and why the hope of eternal life is the most important thing anyone can hear—even in the cockpit of a hijacked airplane. Along the way, the episode weaves together encouraging fellowship with listeners, updates from the grace community, reflections on identity in Christ from Romans 6 and Galatians 2, and thoughtful discussion about speaking the truth with grace and love in everyday life. It’s a lively, heartfelt episode filled with scripture, real-world application, humor, and bold gospel encouragement you won’t want to miss. Come join us! PTL!

Questions
Here's the biggest question I can ask you: why did Christ die on a cross? I suspect most know the answer, and that is He paid for our sins (1 Cor. 15:1-4). Paid in what sense? He took on the penalty, the consequence, for your sins (Rom. 3:25). If you place your faith in Christ and in His death, burial, and resurrection as payment for all your sins, then God the Father will give you that free gift of eternal life (Rom. 5:15-18).
Here's the second biggest question I can ask you: if you're a believer, do you know who you are in Christ? You're now identified with Christ in His victory for you on the cross. The Father now sees you as dead, buried, and risen with His Son (Rom. 6:3-4). You're now complete in Him (Col. 2:10), forgiven all trespasses (Col. 2:13), already seated in heavenly places (Eph. 2:6), and sealed by the Spirit (Eph. 1:13), which means you have eternal security.
Do you know who you are in Christ and how to live in light of those precious truths?
